Here is a peek at the jerseys each country's players will be sporting as they impress (or underwhelm) over the upcoming month as the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar begins. We take a look at the home kits that will be worn at the FIFA tournament by Group A, from Netherlands to Senegal, Ecuador and Qatar.
Adidas, Nike and Puma designed 26 out of the 32 kits, with Hummel (Denmark), New Balance (Costa Rica), Le Coq Sportif/One All Sports (Cameroon), Marathon (Equador), Kappa (Tunisia) and Major (Iran) providing the remaining six.
Group A
Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 kit
The home squad will be sporting their customary maroon uniforms for its first World Cup appearance. According to Nike, "the home uniform honours Qatar's independence from Britain in 1971 with the Desert Maroon and white serrated trim of the national flag" and the shirt has a crest emphasising its status as the host nation. The coastline of Qatar is symbolised by the away jersey, when in motion, Nike's white and off-white away uniform is intended to "resemble a sandstorm spinning in the dry heat" and incorporates a graphic overlay inspired by pearls to represent pearl-diving traditions.
Ecuador FIFA World Cup 2022 kit
Marathon, who has been in charge of designing Ecuador's jersey since 1996, created the team's uniforms. This is one of the oldest relationships between national teams and their kit suppliers. The word "Ecuador" appears on the design in six different languages. La Tri's World Cup match collection features jerseys in their well-known home yellow, away blue, and the brand-new third white, which introduces a clean aesthetic. Every shirt has a unique tone graphic and uses the same custom rounded collar style from Marathon. The geographic coordinates of the Equator, which passes through the country, are imprinted on the back neck of the kits along with a silhouette of the South American nation. The jersey's inside necklines include a custom created shield-shaped print to identify Ecuador's four regions.
Senegal FIFA World Cup 2022 kit
Senegal's home uniform for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the remainder of the 2022–2023 international football season has been made public by PUMA. The mainly white uniform was modelled by the home shirt used in the current Africa Cup of Nations champion's World Cup debut twenty years ago. Thousands of viewers saw a legendary moment in football history during the FIFA World Cup 2002 opening match. When Senegal overcame the world champion France, the team's celebration dance routine was engraved in football history. In their remarkable first appearance at the competition, the Lions of Teranga triumphed and later advanced to the quarterfinals. The Senegal 2022 World Cup home jersey honours national legends with a throwback style that is reminiscent of their time 20 years ago.
Netherlands FIFA World Cup 2022 kit
It was only virtue for the "Oranje" to wear orange, right? The Nike-designed shirt emphasises the inclusive mindset found in Dutch sport and society while using bright colours that are meant to represent Dutch tradition. In the 1970s the Netherlands put itself on the map, Nike took inspiration from the Total Football home shirt which was worn during this. The 22/23 primary jersey represents the innovation, adaptability, and inventiveness that the Netherlands has used to produce successful football players as well as well-known designers of streetwear and clothing around the world. The Netherlands players who took part in their premiere photoshoot appreciated the new uniforms. "Every time I put on the shirt, I see it as an opportunity to achieve great things," said team captain Virgil van Dijk. "Not just for myself, and for the team, but especially for my country. It remains special to be able to do that as a captain."
